“In genome engineering, your creativity is the only limit.”
When I first looked into the field of systems and synthetic biology, this statement immediately hooked me as I imagined trees that grow into houses, crops that flourish in the Sahara, and organisms that could simultaneously metabolize plastic while spitting out biofuel.
We are a few decades away from those dreams, but I strongly believe we can eventually get there!
While conducting research in this field (Caltech, UCSD, and biotech startups), I noticed two strengths of mine: I am able to help develop researchers’ ideas into real-world impact and help scale labs from nothing to thriving.
I am motivated by my love for the people, passion for the projects, and a desire to see science impact society in positive and powerful ways. I always see the best in people and strive to nurture others to reach their fullest potentials.
